Improvisation: the bronze mask of Marcus Auerelius Antoninus Augustus, Emperor philosopher, one of the last great exponents of Stoicism school.

The Roman sculpture portrait as the continuation of classic Greek culture. The Roman culture absorbed and redefined the great Greek heritage the sense of perfection beauty and harmonized proportions. Unlike the Greek culture that was focused on representing the mythological heroes and gods, Romans have developed a school of realistic sculptural portrait aiming to represent real historical characters.

Curious fact that unlike famous Greek sculptures we don't know any author of famous Roman sculptures.

The important fact is that the first time in history, we can observe real historical characters, because of the romans were focused on portrait, character and personal similarities!
